Handmade Christmas - Our Christmas Tree

This year we decided to go for handmade toys as much as possible because I spend most of my time at home with Katie. All in all, we got just 18 Christmas tree balls and 6 choco Santas. Everything else is made by hand. =)

Handmade Christmas - Katie's scarf

Via my Advent-calendar project Katie got a handmade winter present. I spent a few weeks of November knitting it stich by stich.

By the way, she really liked the idea of having this calendar - every morning she runs up to the wall asking me or my husband to cut a string with a small gift attached to it...

Handmade Christmas - Amazing Gift Wrapping Ideas

Handmade Christmas 5 - Advent Calendar ideas

For those of you who aren't sure what the Advent calendar is, I found some info in wiki.

An Advent calendar is a special calendar used to count or celebrate the days in anticipation of Christmas. The days usually overlap with the Christian season of Advent, which can be as early as November 27 and as late as December 3. Many take the form of a large rectangular card with "windows" of which there are usually 24: one for each day of December leading up to Christmas Day. The doors are opened starting with the first one. Consecutive doors are opened every day leading up to Christmas. The calendar windows open to reveal an image, poem, a portion of a story (such as the story of the Nativity of Jesus) or a small gift, such as a toy or a chocolate item. Some calendars are strictly religious, whereas others are secular in content.

This post contains the pics of some home-made calendars and later I will post mine - I got the idea from here. This year I've decided to be awfully cheap and my calendar cost me about 40 Kc in total!!! ;)

Christmas Mode

I'm sure that the following pics will put you in the Xmas mode!!!
I love living in Czech Republic because everything looks so cosy and bright, even though we still didn't get a single snowflake!

Handmade Christmas 4 - Toothpaste Snowflakes

I've just fond an amazing idea of how to make Christmas snowflakes - I mean nice white spray snowflakeson your windows and mirrors =)
We can use toothpaste or liquid snow spray!

Handmade Christmas 3 - Candle jar

This is a marvellous idea to create a candle holder:

Handmade Christmas 2

A perfect home-made snow globe

We need:
1) A glass jar with a lid
2) Boiled water
3) Glitter/Sparkles usually could be purchased in any craft store
4) Glycerol  (in a drugstore)

5)  Superglue
6) A plastic toy that you wish to put inside the snow globe jar :)

First you have to glue the toy to the lid and wait around 12 hours for it to stiffen.
Then you add water, sparks and glycerol to the jar.
Close it tight and you'll see the immediate result! Enjoy!!! =)

Handmade Christmas

Handmade Christmas is a series of posts about some holiday items for kids that you can make yourself using dump materials that we normally get rid of!
How to make a snowman of bottle caps?
How to make a snow globe at home?
How to make snowflakes?
And much more!

So here we go, the first post is dedicated to a bottle cap snowman!
Here is the how-to tutorial:
